The freshman orientation is the first experience of new students at Maryville College and definitely a memorable one! You will be placed in a group of 15-18 other students, with a peer mentor and faculty advisor. You will be together with this group for the entire first semester, but the first several days on campus you will begin your life at college at the hands of the Mountain Challenge staff. There are several options that students can take, most people will do a ropes course, climb the alpine tower, go canoeing and take a hike! There are five groups (which you chose to be on) that go on expeditions. These expeditions are in several categories, from backpacking to whitewater rafting! These experiences are designed to have you meet new friends, learn more about the college, its lifestyle and community. You will be faced with challenges, but within the reach of you and the other freshman in your group. This orientation is one of the reasons Maryville College is consistently ranked as one of the top colleges for the freshman experience. Your time at Mountain Challenge is the jumpstart and key to your starting life at Maryville College. We will begin adding several image slideshows from the 2009 orientation, so make sure to bookmark this page and check back. You might find yourself!
